Monica Anne (Johnson) Cash, MD

Dr. Cash grew up in the Marcy Houses until an early teenager, and was known for her love of reading. Her formal educational building blocks include St Ambrose Elementary School, Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School, Sarah Lawrence College (BA 1975), and the University of Michigan Medical School (MD 1980). Dr Cash also pursued graduate studies in business and public health. In addition to her career as an anesthesiologist, Dr Cash has served as a women’s support group leader, health professions mentor, and was the founder of TLC Mercy Ministries in Detroit, MI, a community health advocacy organization. Dr Cash’s concern for the medically underserved led to collaboration with the Greater Detroit Area Partnership for Training which resulted in recruitment and Masters level education of community based health care practitioners.
